The open section included our own beloved coaches Tom Wilson and Greg Craft (class of 2002, class of 2010) as well as current student-athletes Thomas Moran, Trent Howard and Justyn Haines. Other vaulters were current Junior at University of Southern Alabama and WNY native Ireland Armstrong, 2014 Fredonia alumni Ben Goebel and 2013 Fredonia alumni Cody Daehldeiden. The winning vault of 15' 4" came from 2012 University of Buffalo alumni Dan Reynolds.
The Elite section of the Winter Vault Off only added to the energy of the night. Senior Olivia Kurbs opened up the section by clearing 10' 2". High school freshmen phenom Erica Ellis set a New York State freshman record in the event by clearing 12' 2". It was her 3rd time setting the record in 3 days!
The next to finish the event at 13' 6 was Olympic hopeful Janice Keppler who was followed by Fredonia native and Olympic gold medalist Jenn Suhr. Suhr finished the competition clearing 15' 6". The mark is not only the best indoor mark in the world this season, it also sets a new Steele Hall field house record, previously set by Head Coach Wilson in 2005!
The coaching staff would like to thank all who participated and helped plan this event.
