By earning 10 team points, plus the four points won by teammate Derek Sunderlund, accounted for a a majority of Fredonia's points Saturday en route a fifth-place finish in the team standings. The Blue Devils tied Buffalo State, giving each team one point in the Battle By The Lake standings.
Fredonia's other scoring Saturday came from Aaron Cember, eighth in the shot put at 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8 3/4 inches).
Sunderland's high jump of 1.85 meters (6 feet, 3/4 inch) was a personal best. On Friday, Jonah McGrath registered a PR triple jump (13.58 meters), as did Dan Sudyn (14.12 meters), and Noah Watkins in the 5,000 meters (16:04).
Next up for Fredonia is a trip to the All-Atlantic Regional meet next Friday and Saturday at Ithaca College.
Bursie 2nd in 60 on Day 2 of SUNYAC meet
Bursie rallied for a personal-best clocking of 7.93 seconds, the best finish among the Blue Devils, who finished seventh in the team standings. She was also fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.33 seconds.
Fredonia's next top finisher was senior Emily Maguire, seventh in the 800 meters in 2:29.89. She ran a personal-best 2:22 during preliminaries Friday night.
Personal records in Friday's portion of the meet came from Cassie Serafin in the triple jump (11.38 meters), Macy Brooks in the pentathlon (2,412 points), and Elena Davis in the 5,000 meters.
The Blue Devils will compete next weekend in the All-Atlantic Regional meeting at Ithaca College.
