Mother nature proved to be a problem in day two. What started off as a beautiful day for Eleanor Clarke to throw her second best toss in the javelin at 34.41m, turned into a cold and wet afternoon. It did not slow down Josh Walters in the 800m. He set a personal best time of 1:54.60. The women's pole vault was moved indoors, where freshman Haley Lerner took advantage with a clearance of 10'8".
Buffalo, NY - One week later, the Blue Devils traveled to UB for their Team Invitational. The men finished 3rd and the women 5th. The men's 5,000m proved to be a highlighted event for the Blue Devils. With four personal best performances from Anthony Ruiz (15:47), Ted Tomasello (15:51), Kyle Campbell (16:23) and Tony Gettino (16:24) it helped spark a strong motivated finish for the men's 4x400m relay. The relay team of Griffin Dombroske, Toby Onuoha, Josh Walters and Nick Abdo finished first with a regional qualifying time of 3:23.89, ten seconds ahead of any competition.
In the field events, freshman Haley Lerner finished first in the pole vault with a season best vault of 3.35m (10'11.75"). This currently has her number one in the SUNYAC conference. Toby Onuoha is still sitting on top of the conference in the men's high jump with a 1.90m clearance. In the women's hammer throw, both athletes Eleanor Clarke and Marisa Starvino had personal best throws, 34.65m and 32.60m and finished in the top ten.
