Ayana Bursie (Buffalo, N.Y. / Cheektowaga) and Kayla Murray (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West) had top lifetime performances in the 200 meters and the pole vault, respectively.
Bursie, a winner last Saturday at Brockport, finished second Friday in 26.31 seconds for the 200 meters. Senior teammate Kaitlyn Smith (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) was sixth in the same event.
Murray cleared 3.05 meters (10 feet, 0 inches) to finish fourth in the pole vault in the Blue Devils' second indoor track & field meet of the season.
In other field events, sophomore Cassie Serafin (Cheektowaga, N.Y. / Depew) was second in the triple jump at 11.29 meters (37 feet, 0.5 inches), while freshman Madeline Sohl (Jamestown, N.Y. / Frewsburg) was seventh in the same event.
Also, senior Abriel Andrews (Syracuse, N.Y. / Henninger) was fifth in the 20-pound weight throw at 12.06 meters (39 feet, 7 inches).
In running events, junior Kelly O'Hara (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Thomas) was third and sophomore Leesa Peterson (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown East) seventh in the 800 meters. O'Hara's time was 2:31.79.
Morgan Ashton (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Whitesboro), a freshman, crossed the line first out of only four women entered in the 400 meters.
Two 1sts among PRs for men at Houghton meet
Sudyn, who won the triple jump last Saturday at the season-opening indoor meet at Brockport, was also seventh in long jump at Houghton's Kerr-Pegula Fieldhouse.
He wasn't the only Blue Devil to taste victory Friday. The Blue Devils' 4-by-200 relay team of sophomore Michael Salvati (Avon, N.Y. / Avon), freshman Alec Wright (East Greenbush, N.Y. / Columbia), freshman Tyler Pinnock (New Rochelle, N.Y. / New Rochelle), and sophomore Marcus Torres (Goshen, N.Y. / Goshen) combined for a tape-breaking time of 1:34.06.
Other top performances by Fredonia runners: Torres was third and Wright fifth in the 400 meters, and Pinnock was fifth in the 200 meters.
In addition to Sudyn's PR, junior Matthew McCarthy (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) and sophomore Aaron Cember (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. / Sleepy Hollow) also recorded personal-bests in field events. McCarthy was second in the 35-pound weight throw with a PR of 15.43 meters (50 feet, 7.5 inches); he was also third in the shot at 13.26 meters (43 feet, 6 inches). Cember's PR in the shot of 13.24 meters (43 feet, 5.25 inches) was good for fourth place.
In the high jump, sophomore Derek Sunderland (Owego, N.Y. / Owego) was fourth, while sophomore Jonah McGrath (Penfield, N.Y. / Penfield) was seventh in the triple jump and the first collegiate winner in the pole vault.
