Senior Sydney Preston will be the first to step on the track for the Blue Devils, she has had a very strong indoor season and will look to qualify for the finals in the 60m hurdle event at 5:15pm.
Two Blue Devil men will kick things off with second year pole vaulter Chris Gualtieri making his first championship appearance, along with school record holder Nick Abdo in the 400m dash prelims at 6:00pm. Earlier this year, Abdo posted a 49.33 that currently has him ranked 40th in the nation. He will be looking to match that time on the flat track tonight. Abdo will return to the track later in the 200m prelims at 8:45pm. The men's triple jump will start at 6:00pm, featuring two Blue Devils, senior Griffin Dombroske and junior Toby Onuoha. Both men are seated in the top eight, Onuoha currently sitting 39th in the nation at 13.91m.
Freshman Josh Walters will be next in the men's 800m prelims at 7:15pm. Walters has posted a 1:57.09 earlier this season and will look to qualify for the finals tomorrow afternoon. Ted Tomasello will take a shot at his first 5,000m indoor race of his career, he will be focusing on the 10k outdoors and is ready to set a personal best tonight at 8:00pm.
First day competition will end with the men's and women's distance medley relays. For the women, Kristen Kelemen, Evelyn Smith, Vanessa Ryhal, Ally Battaglia will look to make the podium. The men will host, Sembel Koshi, Griffin Dombroske, Patrick Klinger, Jared Hecht. The relays are set to go off at 9 and 9:15pm tonight.
Currently, Fredonia holds the meet and facility records in the DMR for both the women and men.
