THE MUD! - SUNYAC 2012

10/27/2012

The conditions at today's SUNYAC Championships turned out to be a tough test for not only the Blue Devils. The men stayed the same as the women bumped up one spot from last years results. Racing the clock today was not an option, so the Blue Devils worked in tight groups and finished strong to begin their championship portion of the season.
The Blue Devils were led by (SR) Pete Francia with an 18th place finish in a time of 27:21, (SO) Zakk Hess crossed the line in a time of 27:29 in 25th place, (FR) Collin Mulcahy finished in 27:54, 35th place, (JR) Steve Whittemore was 41st in a time of 28:03 and rounding out the top five was (SR) Jake Krautwurst in a time of 28:28 good for 56th place. (FR) Kyle Collins and (SR) Jack Bennett were 6th and 7th for the displacing postions. The team finished 5th overall with a point total of 141.
The women Blue Devils were led by (JR) Kim Foltz with a time of 24:49 finishing in 23rd, (SO) Amanda Cocchiara finished 32nd with a time of 25:05, (SR) Leslie Beaton crossed the line in 35th with a time of 25:16, (SR) Kateri Walsh finished in 38th with a time of 25:21 and rounding out the top five was (JR) Anna Hourihan in 42nd place with a time of 25:28. (JR) Alissa Conti and Becca List were 6th and 7th for the displacing postions. The team moved up one spot from last year, beating rival Brockport for 6th place.

The Blue Devils are off next weekend, then will travel to the Atlantic Regional Championships at the University of Rochester 10/10/12.

XC 2012 SUNYAC Championships

10/19/2012

Picture
We are one week away from the 2012 XC SUNYAC Championships hosted here at Fredonia State's own Lake Erie State Park. This year will be a shoot out for the women, with a strong and tight field from first to sixth with Geneseo, Cortland, Plattsburgh, Brockport, New Paltz, and Fredonia all looking to race it out for the 2012 SUNYAC team title. The course is very fast and spectator friendly and should be host to a great meet for all competitors. The Blue Devil women are ready to close on the top teams in the SUNYAC looking for huge performances from (JR) Kim Foltz, (JR) Leslie Beaton, (SO) Amanda Cocchiara, (JR) Anna Hourihan, and (JR) Alissa Conti rounding out the scoring five with (JR) Becca List, (SR) Kateri Walsh, (FR) Katie Tresino, and (SO) Emily Palmeri looking to displace the
rest of the field.

On the men's side, the team has regained a top ten Atlantic Region ranking heading into the SUNYAC Championships. The Blue Devils will look to run a tight scoring spread to try and take down
Cortland for a top three finish this year. Buffalo State, Oneonta, and Plattsburgh have been running very strong as well, it should be a very tight race from start to finish. With strong races from (SR) Pete Francia, (FR) Collin Mulcahy, (SR) Jack Bennett, (JR) Steve Whittemore and (SO) Zakk Hess the scoring five will look to run tight and smart. (SR) Jake Krautwurst, (FR) Kyle Collins,
and (JR) Jesse Mintz will look to displace the rest of the field.

Both teams will be looking to move up the SUNYAC rankings. "The teams are ready to go, they are itching to run fast, and with the race being at home it just makes the atmosphere that much better"
Coach Wilson. "This is the right time, and place to start a new trend" Coach Wilson
