There were two school records broken by the women’s team during the meet. Senior Nicole Desens broke the Shot Put record while taking first place in the meet in the event. She broke the record with a throw of 13.20 meters (43’3.75”). Niki also finished in 6th place in the Discus Throw with a throw of 37.19 meters. Also during the meet, junior Lauren Kotas broke the school record in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:37.16. That time was good enough for third place in the meet. Junior Olivia Kurbs was the other event winner for the women’s team. She won the pole vault with a vault of 3.20 meters, or 10’6”.
Other top finishers for the women on the track include junior Anna Dambacher (2nd place; 13.12) and freshman Brittany Feldman (6th place; 13.48) in the 100 Meter Dash; Anna (3rd place; 26.58) and Brittany (6th place; 27.04) in the 200 Meter Dash; senior Kim Foltz (7th place; 2:21.16) in the 800 Meter Run; sophomore Laura Morrison (6th place; 4:48.66) in the 1500 Meter Run; sophomore Kara Hall (5th place; 19:12.42) in the 5000 Meter Run; senior Hailey Griewisch (8th place; 16.58) in the 100 Meter Hurdles; and sophomore Julia Johnson (7th place; 12:08.07) in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Also, the women’s 4x100 Relay team of juniors Anna Dambacher and Olivia Kurbs, and freshmen Brittany Feldman and Mikayla Capestrani took 3rd place with a time of 50.69
Top finishers in the field for the women include freshman Sarah Couperus (8th place; 1.47 meters) in the High Jump; senior Meghan Devine (8th place; 9.91 meters) in the Triple Jump; and freshmen Kristen Sawyer (t-3rd place; 3.05 meters), Julia Schreier (t-3rd place; 3.05 meters), and Mikayla Capestrani (6th place; 3.05 meters) in the Pole Vault.
The men had a lone event winner this past weekend. Senior Chris Shartrand won the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 9:32.85. He was joined in the top 8 by senior Zakk Hess. Zakk took 3rd place with a time of 9:47.02. Other top finishers on the track for the men include junior Collin Mulcahy (3rd place; 4:00.08) and sophomore Bobby Cooper (7th place; 4:05.59) in the 1500 Meter Run; junior Kyle Collins (2nd place; 15:22.21) and sophomore Cody Martini (7th place; 15:53.25) in the 5000 Meter Run; and freshman Chase Towse (7th place; 58.92) in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
Top finishers in the field include freshman Justyn Haines (8th place; 3.97 meters) in the Pole Vault; freshman Rocky Caparro (3rd place; 12.48 meters) in the Triple Jump; freshman Damone Brown (6th place; 13.55 meters) in the Shot Put; junior Hsin Chin in the Discus Throw (6th place; 38.60 meters) and Hammer Throw (6th place; 48.13 meters); senior Sawyer Bell (5th place; 48.49 meters) in the Hammer Throw; and junior Tyler Gajewski (6th place; 45.39 meters) in the Javelin Throw.
This coming weekend, the Blue Devils will be splitting squad. Half of the team will be traveling to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA while the rest of the team will be traveling to Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.
