Mikayla Capestrani (Jamestown, N.Y.), a junior, cleared 3.47 meters -- 11 feet, 4 1/2 inches -- to finish second in the event. It was 2 1/4 inches higher than any Fredonia woman has ever gone. The previous school record was shared by Julia Schreier, Kristen Sawyer (Lockport, N.Y.), and Olivia Kurbs -- all either current or former teammates of Capestrani.
There were two other Top 10 performances, both in the 10,000 meters. Brenna Donovan (Youngstown, N.Y.) won the event in 39:03.92, now fourth in Fredonia history. Kelly Vincent (Randolph, N.Y.) finished fourth in 40:54.32, now at No. 9.
Brittany Feldman (Jamestown, N.Y.) won the 200 meters in 26.00 seconds, best among 56 women. She was also fourth in the 100 meters.
Other top performances in field events included a pair of second-place finishes by Sarah Couperus (Marion, N.Y.), in the triple jump and the high jump; a pair of fourth-place finishes by Rachel Williams (Lockport, N.Y.), in the hammer throw and the shot put, including a personal-best in the hammer; and a personal-best by Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y.) in the shot put.
MEET RESULTS
Haines cleared 4.62 meters (15 feet, 1 3/4 inches), a personal-best vault. Brown was third in the shot put with a toss of 14.56 meters (47 feet, 9 1/4 inches), also a personal-best.
The other PRs in field events were turned in by Jordan Toland (Lockport, N.Y.) in the hammer throw, and Nick Serafin (Depew, N.Y.) in the long jump. In addition, Rocky Caparro (Staten Island, N.Y.) was fourth in both the triple jump and the high jump.
PRs in running events were made by Aidan Pollard in a time of 15:57.70 (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Zak Kellerman (Depew, N.Y.) 16:00.54 in the 5,000 meters
