Brown, a thrower, was second in the shot put with a toss of 14.47 meters (47 feet, 5 3/4 inches) in a field of 50 men. He also earned two points for finishing seventh out of 46 in the 35-pound weight throw -- 13.96 meters (45 feet, 9 3/4 inches).
Haines cleared 4.58 meters (15 feet, one-quarter inch) in the pole vault. The event drew 25 vaulters.
Dan Sudyn (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) scored points in two field events. A freshman, Sudyn was sixth in the long jump, good for three points, at 6.18 meters (20 feet, 3 1/2 inches). He was also eighth in the triple jump -- 12.44 meters (40 feet, 9 3/4 inches -- to earn one more point. He was joined in the triple jump by fellow freshman Jonah McGrath (Penfield, N.Y. / Penfield), who finished fifth -- and earned four points -- with a jump of 12.71 meters (41 feet, 8 1/2 inches).
The Blue Devils also earned two team points in the high jump as junior Nick Serafin (Depew, N.Y. / Depew) cleared 1.81 meters (5 feet, 11 1/4 inches) to finish in a tie for sixth.
Fredonia's only scoring in running events was a third-place finish in the distance medley relay. The quartet consisted of senior Merlin Joseph Jr. (Binghamton, N.Y. / Binghamton), freshman Michael Salvati (Avon, N.Y. / Avon), senior Mitch Loiacano (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport), and junior Ethan Francis (Dunkirk, N.Y. / Dunkirk).

Field athletes pace Devils at spire
The top individual finisher was senior Sarah Couperus (Marion, N.Y. / Marion), second in the triple jump at 10.08 meters (33 feet, 1 inch). She earned eight team points.
Next best was freshman Amy Tichacek (Walworth, N.Y. / Gananda), fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.43 meters (4 feet, 8 1/4 inches), good for four points.
Senior thrower Rachel Williams (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) was seventh in both the shot put and the 20-pound weight throw. Her throws covered 11.00 meters (36 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and 13.26 meters (43 feet, 6 inches), respectively. That was worth fourth points total.
The Blue Devils had two top-eight finishers in the pole vault in seniors Kristen Sawyer (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) and Mikayla Capestrani (Jamestown, N.Y. / Jamestown). Each cleared 3.22 meters (10 feet, 6 3/4 inches), with Sawyer finishing sixth and Capestrani seventh based on fewer misses. They earned five team points.
The Blue Devils, with two teams entered, added nine points in the distance medley relay by finishing fourth and fifth out of five teams. The "A" team was comprised of freshman Sarah Kurbs (Lockport, N.Y.), sophomore Brenna Culbreth(Westfield, N.Y. / Westfield), freshman Sarah Buckley (Mineola, N.Y. / Holy Trinity), and senior Hannah Kurbs (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport).
Also, Brittany Feldman (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern) had the fifth-fastest preliminary time -- 8.35 seconds -- in the 60-meter dash. She did not participate in the finals.
