On the track the women opened the day with excellent performances, with Freshman, Stephanie Wojnowski, taking second in the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 11:47.02. She was followed closely by Julia Johnson who was able to take fifth, running 12:02.82. Next on the track was the 1500m run, where Laura Morrison ran 4:43.64 to win, only coming in .2 seconds behind the school record. Next up was Brittany Feldman who easily secured first place in the 400, running a school record time of 57.11. Finishing out the track events Laura Morrison took first in the 800 (2:18.57) and Bonnie Binggeli placed fifth (2:25.56), Brittany Feldman ran 25.19 for second in the 200m and Hannah Kurbs came in 7th in the 5000 with a time of 19:08.31.
In the field Sarah Couperus won the high jump with a height of 1.57m as well as took 7th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.30m. In the pole vault, Kristen Sawyer and Mikayla Capistrani tied for 1st vaulting 3.15m. Rachel Williams and Brianne Paganello were able to secure 4th and 5th place in the hammer throw with marks of 40.26m and 40.25m. Also throwing well was Anneliese Bienko , who took fifth in the discus throwing 35.66m.
The men also marked many excellent performances. In similar fashion, opening up the meet with a 1st and 4th place finish in the 3000m steeplechase were Zakk Hess (9:53.75) and Alex Crise (10:24.42). Next on the track was the 1500m where the Blue Devils Collin Mulcahy (3:57.47), Bobby Cooper (4:06.45) and Merlin Joseph (4:09.14) placed 1st, 2nd and 5th. Mulcahy was also able place sixth in the 800m running a time of 1:57.36. Chase Towse took 4th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 59.02. Senior, Kyle Collins, took to the track for the 5000m and won in a time of 15:05.70.
In the field Rocky Caparro had an exceptional day taking first in the triple jump, with a distance of 13.53m as well as placing 2nd in the high jump with a height of 1.83m. In the shot put Damone Brown took 6th place with a distance of 12.99m , and Kevin Geiser placed 6th in the javelin, throwing 45.37m.
The team competes at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic this Saturday and Sunday.
