Amanda, who has had a long struggle with injuries the past few years broke through in a big way Friday night finishing as the top collegian in the women's 3,000m with a time of 10:42.75, the 6th fastest time in Fredonia State History. Her performance not only secured her a trip to NYC, but also a spot in the women's 3,000m at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Championships held next Saturday, February 23rd at Brockport State College. Congratulations Amanda!
The men were also started off with a bang as the men's DMR of Collin Mulcahy (Fr), Ron Wasik (Sr), JonMichael Knapp (So), and Zakk Hess (So) combined for a time of 10:18.54. This is the second fastest time in FSU history and the 16th fastest time in the NATION! Great job guys!
Shortly after the DMR was the 60m Dash, in which freshman Kow Ephirim-Donkor stole the show running a .19 second personal best of 7.06, the second fastest time in FSU history. Ephirim-Donkor's time is just .02 off the school record of 7.04 held by 2012 graduate Webster Thomas and also earning him a trip the this year's ECAC Championships. Another Freshman, Eric Williams, also qualified for ECAC's. Williams won the 200m on Friday in a time of 22.73 seconds, 7 hundredths below the qualifying standard of 22.80. Williams also finished 3rd in the 60m high hurdles, second among collegians, only behind teammate, Carl Caughell. Caughell (Sr) had arguably the best individual performance of the day with the top collegiate finish and new personal record of 8.36 seconds in the 60m high hurdles. This performance currently ranks Caughell 23rd amongst NCAA Division III hurdlers and inches him ever so closer to the school record of 8.22 held by former All-American, Keith Norward.
