Sophomore jumper Dan Sudyn (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) earned AARTFC all-region honors with a third-place finish in the triple jump. He covered 14.26 meters (46 feet, 9 1/2 inches). His previous best of 14.12 meters came at the SUNYAC meet last weekend..
Sophomore sprinter Ayana Bursie (Buffalo, N.Y. / Cheektowaga) was clocked in 7.89 seconds in the 60-meter dash during the second heat of preliminaries. Her's was the fourth-fastest time and earned her a place in the finals Saturday afternoon. Her previous best of 7.93 -- second on the Fredonia indoor career list -- came at the SUNYAC meet.
In other events, Gus Alvarez Jr. (North Lake, Ill. / Elmwood Park) was fourth in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.57 meters (15 feet) while Cassie Serafin (Cheektowaga, N.Y. / Depew) was ninth in the women's triple jump at 11.34 meters (37 feet, 2 1/2 inches). Jonah McGrath (Penfield, N.Y. / Penfield) also competed in the men's pole vault.
Fredonia senior Nick Serafin finished seventh in the men's high jump during the second day of the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference indoor championship meet at Ithaca College.
Serafin cleared an indoor personal-best 1.91 meters -- 6 feet, 3 1/4 inches -- during the Saturday session. His previous best of 1.90 meters came while winning the SUNYAC indoor title last weekend, the first Blue Devil male to win the event in nearly 20 years.
Fredonia sophomore Ayana Bursie competed in two events Saturday. She finished sixth in the 60-meter dash with a clocking of 7.928 seconds and established a personal-best in the 200 meters with a ninth-place time of 26.11 seconds. Her previous best of 26.31 seconds came last December at Houghton College.
Also competing for Fredonia was junior Matthew McCarthy in the men's weight throw.
