Many had great performances, but few compared to Laura Morrison's first place finish in the mile. Her time of 5:02.91 topped the school record previously set in 1990 by Jen McNerney by over five seconds! Her time ranks her number one in the SUNYAC and the nation and also earned her a Fredonia and SUNYAC female athlete of the week honor. Congrats Laura!
Other top finishes at the meet on the women's side included a third place finish in the 60m dash and a fourth place finish in the high jump by sophomore Brittany Feldman (8.16, 1.55m), a tenth place finish in the 400m dash by freshman Mia Walker (1:07.18), a fifth place finish in the high jump and a sixth place finish in the triple jump by Sarah Couperus (1.55m, 10.14m), a fourth place finish in the pole vault by sophomore Mikayla Capestrani (3.30m), a sixth place finish in the pole vault by sophomore Julia Schreier (3.15m), a tenth place finish in the pole vault by junior Jen Wasielewski (2.65m), a seventh place finish in the shot put and a sixth place finish in the 20lb weight throw by sophomore Rachel Williams (11.17m, 11.96m), and an event win for the 4x400m relay (4:11.82).
On the men's side senior Collin Mulcahy also had an outstanding performance in the mile. He won the event with a time of 4:17.05 and is currently ranked first in the SUNYAC and tenth in the nation! Senior Kyle Collins and junior Bobby Copper also had strong performances in the mile finishing in fifth and eighth place respectively (4:24.17, 4:30.33).
Other top-ten finishes on the track for the men included a fifth place finish in the 600m run by senior Nick Watson (1:26.12), an eighth place finish in the 800m run by freshman Ethan Francis, (2:04.37), an eighth place finish in the 60m hurdles by sophomore Mitch Paciga (9.24), and a third place finish for the 4x800m relay (3:33.16).
In the field events top-ten performances included an event win in the triple jump and a second place finish in the high jump by sophomore Rocky Caparro (13.17m, 1.88m), a fifth place finish in the high jump by freshmen Nick Serafin (1.83m), an eighth place finish in the pole vault by freshman Trent Howard (3.95m), a fifth place finish in the shot put by sophomore Damone Brown (13.46m), a third place finish in the 35lb weight throw by senior Sawyer Bell (15.64m), a sixth place finish in the 35lb weight throw by junior Kyle Brown (14.40m), and an eighth place finish in the 35lb weight throw by senior Kevin Geiser (13.37m).
