Sophomore Laura Morrison broke the record in the 600 Meter Run with a time of 1:36.79. The previous record was held by junior teammate Lauren Kotas, who ran a time of 1:44.87. Sophomore Bonnie Binggeli ran the second best time in Fredonia history with a time of 1:44.49.
Senior Zakk Hess also broke a school record this past weekend, when he finished the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 8:30.02. The previous record was held by Kevin Rumsey with a time of 8:30.24. Zakk finished in second place in the meet.
Other top finishers for the women included junior Anna Dambacher (7th place; 26.82) in the 200 Meter Dash; senior Hailey Griewisch (7th place; 9.60) in the 60 Meter Hurdles; and senior Nicole Desens in the Shot Put (5th place; 12.29 meters) and the Weight Throw (5th place; 14.62 meters). Freshman Julia Schreier had a personal best in the Pole Vault as well, with a vault of 3.45 meters. That puts her in second place all time for Fredonia behind teammate Kristen Sawyer.
Top finishers for the men included sophomore Bobby Cooper (3rd place; 1:26.34) in the 600 Meter Run; junior Collin Mulcahy (3rd place; 1:57.47), senior Nick Watson (5th place; 1:57.58), and sophomore Pat Shenal (8th place; 1:59.07) in the 800 Meter Run; freshman Damone Brown (7th place; 13.56 meters) in the Shot Put; and junior Sawyer Bell (8th place; 14.22 meters) and sophomore Kyle Brown (9th place; 13.97 meters) in the Weight Throw. The trio of senior JM Knapp (52.84), freshman Chase Towse (52.95), and senior Jeremy Kozlowski (53.01) finished 8th, 9th, and 10th in the 400 Meter Run as well.
The Blue Devils will be heading to SUNY Brockport next weekend to compete in the Indoor SUNYAC Championships! Be sure to head out on Friday and Saturday to cheer on your Fredonia Blue Devils to finish strong in the conference championships!
