The men's distance medley relay team of senior JM Knapp, senior Nick Watson, junior Collin Mulcahy, and senior Zakk Hess started off the meet by breaking the record with a time of 10:11.43. The bested the previous record of 10:13.74 which was set in 1979.
The next event on the track was the women's 800 meter dash, where sophomore Laura Morrison broke the school record. She ran a time of 2:15.43, which bested the record senior teammate Kim Foltz set in 2014, which was 2:18.18.
Freshman Brittany Feldman joined the record breaking performances by breaking the women's 400 meter dash with a time of 58.56. The previous record was held by junior teammate Anna Dambacher, a time of 59.54.
The last record to be broken for the Blue Devils was by the women's 4x400 meter relay team of junior Anna Dambacher, sophomore Bonnie Binggeli, freshman Brittany Feldman, and sophomore Laura Morrison. They ran a time of 4:04.87, besting the previous record of 4:05.52 which was set in 2011.
Other top performers on the first day of the meet included senior Hailey Griewisch in the 60 meter hurdles, junior Anna Dambacher in the 200 meter dash, and junior Lauren Kotas in the 3000 meters. All set season bests in their respective events.
The men will finish up their competing later today, Saturday, February 14th.
