Q: Where are you from?
Chris: I am from Ballston Lake, New York and I graduated from Shenendehowa High School back in 2011.
Q: How long have you been competing?
CS: At Fredonia I have been on the team since freshman year but as a whole, I began competitively running in eighth grade.
Q: What attracted you to Fredonia?
CS: I was originally attracted to Fredonia for two reasons. The first was that I was looking for a school where I could obtain a master's degree in teaching in five years as opposed to six. The second was that I wanted to go to a school where I could continue to run competitively. Fredonia had both of these qualifications and I loved the school when I came to visit.
Q: What are you studying?
CS: I am a double major in Applied Mathematics and Mathematics with a minor in Economics. I abandoned my teaching plans very early into freshman year.
Q: Explain your experience as a Blue Devil?
CS: My experience as a Blue Devil has been one of growth in myself and the team. Ive spent the past four years training hard every day but staying intelligent with the grand scheme, remembering that I cant help the team if I am hurt. Through increasing mileage and lifting for strength/injury prevention, Ive managed to consistently drop my times year in and year out to reach a level of being extremely competitive at the conference and regional level. Because of this, and my teammates following suit, we've seen some of the best SUNYAC finishes in cross country in the past 20 years and have placed well individually on the track at SUNYACs.
Q: What are your athletic and academic goals?
CS: Academically my goal is the same for every semester: Have fun with classes, learn as much as possible and work hard to stay as close to a 4.0 GPA as I can. Athletically I have a number of goals that I want to achieve. However my primary goals are to earn a spot in the SUNYAC Hall of Fame and put myself in a place to qualify as an individual for nationals. My desire for this goal isn't necessarily for myself but for this team. If I'm not competing for a top spot at SUNYACs or Regionals as one of the teams lead cross country runners, then I'm not doing my job of putting us in position to place well in the SUNYAC and the Atlantic Region.
Q: What are your future plans?
CS: I'm currently in the process of submitting 10 separate applications for PhD programs in Applied Mathematics or Statistics for next fall, so let's keep our fingers crossed on those.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
CS: I see this as a loaded question as I like WAY too many TV shows. However I've been hooked on Supernatural lately so I'll go with that.
